NEQ Brock Street

Lumino’s Vector range has been installed extensively on the recently completed £116m 10 Brock Street project designed by architects Wilkinson Eyre.  Lighting designers MBLD chose Vector V36S to illuminate the façade glazing on each floor level using a bespoke specification built to provide both RGB and 2600K+5000K LED lighting and precisely controlled for a multitude of scene settings.

Horizontal triangulated apertures under the entrance main canopy are lit with Vector 12 IP67 in both RGB and 5000K white and linked with the V36S control system to provide synchronised colour change effects.

MBLD also specified Vector V10S for the interior lobby and reception areas.  The 22 visually stunning, elongated triangular ceiling fins are formed from Barrisol material stretched over a frame with backlighting provided by concealed V10S linear led.  MBLD’s detailed design allows illumination to these sculptural fins internally creating an evenly distributed lighting effect while working to a maximum energy target of just 20W/m2.  Twin strips of RGB plus white V10S are individually controlled to create lighting scenes that vary through the day and night.

10 Brock Street comprises of three linked blocks with 8, 10 and 16 storeys and provides 32,500sq m of office space fronting onto Euston Road.  Wilkinson Eyre described the building as;

‘…arranged around three articulated blocks with a crystalline appearance of angled facades and roofscapes. At ground level, the reception space creates a contemporary environment for the occupiers.’

Energy efficient lighting is used throughout and the building has achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating, 49 per cent more efficient than Part L regulations with features including sub-metering to allow occupiers to monitor their individual energy use.

‘The dramatic full-height atrium which links through to the rear entrance on Drummond Street makes modern use of traditional materials such as oak, marble and bronze.  Daylight dimming lighting controls have also been specified to help manage and reduce energy use.’
