MBLD Award of Excellence

In the same year that marks 30 years since Founder Maurice Brill became an independent lighting designer, Maurice Brill Lighting Design have won a prestigious Award of Excellence from the International Association of Lighting Designers. 

MBLD were among 16 international lighting design firms to be recognised at the 31st annual IALD International Design Awards held at the Renaissance Hotel in Las Vegas on 4th June 2014. The award recognises their work on Heydar Aliyev Cultural Centre, Baku, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects and was collected by Founder and Director Maurice Brill and Associate Designer Aniket Gore. 

The IALD judges said “The smooth, soft flow of light across the project beautifully conveys the architecture.”

MBLD Award of Excellence

Aniket specified Lumino for the project in Baku, Azerbaijan and chose our Vector flexible modular LED system to be built into special handrails within the fluid formed interior spaces designed by Zaha Hadid Architects.  Aniket will be talking about the project design in detail at the Lighting Design Award Breakfast Briefing on 18th June.

Since Maurice Brill set up his lighting design consultancy in 1984, MBLD has been shortlisted for a Lighting Design Award eight times, and won five; it has also won two FX Awards, a Building Services award, the latest IALD Award of Excellence, and has garnered further accolades from the Lighting Industry Federation, Restaurant & Bar Design Awards and the Illuminating Engineering Institute of Japan.

Certification
