The Gentleman’s Office, South Kensington Townhouse
Tucked away in South Kensington, one of London’s most sought-after areas, sits a discreet office adjoined to a townhouse.
The Gentleman’s office provides its resident with the perfect space to attend to business and host informal meetings. Boundary Space were appointed as the lead architects and interior designers on the project having worked with the client on their townhouse residence, just next door. Once again Boundary Space appointed LUMINO to supply a range of lighting solutions to complement the space.
The brief was simple, to create a ‘Gentleman’s Office’ fit for eating, drinking, reading and conversation. There was the history of a long-standing relationship with the client which meant the brief was understood and executed successfully, within the new build property.
The office is the antithesis of corporate London life, every detail pays homage to travel, family and historic artefacts collected by the client over the years. Business agreements are done by ‘breaking bread’ so to speak and drinking a whisky in front of the fireplace. The office design perfectly reflects this, paired with a lighting scheme which is discreet, yet impactful.
LUMINO provided solutions which delicately created the perfect ambient glow within the space. Using SolidEDGE and V10S which when tucked into the ceiling becomes invisible. This bespoke finish and ultra-slim solution by LUMINO illuminates the office and creates a sense of depth and height.
Thomas Furse-Roberts, Director at Boundary Space said, ‘’ The quality of product is always important to us, and we know from experience LUMINO’s products deliver the best results every time. We are thorough in our approach, working out every angle to reduce glare, create ambience and illuminate the key details. Working with LUMINO and their great quality profiles makes this easy.’
LUMINO's Sales Director Chris Small said: “SolidEDGE and V10S are the ideal products for this application and Boundary Space have used them perfectly to create a warm and inviting space, providing comfort for the client and their guests. This is an inspiring space for reflection and through the lighting design the vision of the Gentleman’s office has been brought to life.”
