Private Residence, Surrey
To make the most of this 1980s bungalow, our client opted for an upwards extension. With a fabulous location, overlooking the River Thames with views of Hampton Court Gardens, the residents decided to improve - not move.
Lighting Designer Victoria Jerram had a clear vision for the home, showcasing her lighting design skills in an affordable way, whilst making the house feel light, bright and airy. A core element of the new living arrangement and design was to focus on and maximise the stunning views. The lighting design scheme minimised the use of downlights and experimented with different lighting techniques. The entire lighting scheme is controlled by a Lutron home automation system situated on the ground floor.
To complete the multi-layered design, a significant number of LUMINO solutions were specified. These include solutions from the market-leading Vector V20s which were used to illuminate the curtain slots in all ground floor principal rooms, office and first floor bedrooms.
LUMINO also provided the Vector V36S to illuminate the main staircase – the central spine of the home beautifully linking all of the lit spaces together.
Building the new storey and extending up into the roof space has turned the bungalow into a six-bedroom, three-storey house, which is now more than double the size of the original bungalow.
