Nike House of Innovation, Paris

Renowned for its high-end sportswear and casual fashion pieces, Nike is a brand known for its personality and consumer engagement. As part of its experiential approach to its customer relations, Nike has developed a new concept called ‘House of Innovation’, these flagship stores offer an all-encompassing experience. With the first two establishments in New York and Shanghai, the most recent House of Innovation has been opened by Nike on the historic Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris.

This newest addition to the Nike property portfolio spans nearly 26,000 square feet, spread over four floors. As well as opportunities to buy the latest Nike innovations, the House of Innovation also offers athlete storytelling and experiences.

L’Observatoire International were appointed to deliver the lighting scheme for the new flagship location. The design needed to be adaptable, transformative, and technical, connecting the physical aspects of sport, the joy of watching it in action and the products on display in the store.

To achieve this, L’Observatoire created a lighting concept that uses a layered approach. The first layer focuses on the architecture and the parameters of the building, with the second layer consisting of flexible ambient and dynamic lighting which supports the activities taking place in the space. The final layer focuses on specific product displays and highlights feature details.

To complete parts of the multi-layered design, a significant number of LUMINO solutions were specified. These include solutions from the market leading V20S which have been used to illuminate the window reveals, and a custom 10x10mm luminaire to light the store’s staircases. To highlight the structural columns V36S Optic was used; grazing down the imposing concrete pillars to provide an eye-catching element to the large space.

Elsewhere in the House of Innovation, LUMINO solutions were used to provide wall and ceiling wash, adding to the layer of ambient lighting throughout out all 4 floors.
